March 18, 2010, Santa Barbara, CA— PUEBLO Action Fund (PAF) is
excited to announce our endorsement of Das Williams for Assembly.
After a thorough review of Williams’ questionnaire and a very engaging
interview with 22 community members that included PUEBLO Action
Fund precinct captains, concerned citizens and board members, PAF has
decided that Williams is the best candidate to represent the working poor
of Assembly District 35.
“PUEBLO Action Fund members have endorsed Das for State Assembly
because of the values he upholds as a public servant and his past and his
current work on issues that pertain to the working poor of this
community,” said Belen Seara, Executive Director of PUEBLO Action
Fund.
Williams has been a key player in ensuring the passage of the Living
Wage for Santa Barbara City employees, and continues to be a leader on
issues that affect the working class of the region. Williams has been a
strong advocate for more affordable and alternative public transportation
for service workers and has been a strong supporter of immigrants’ rights.
Williams was also the only candidate that replied to PUEBLO Action
Fund’s extensive questionnaire, which shows his strong commitment to
not use Sacramento solely to represent the needs and concerns of the
wealthy and big corporations. Williams is committed to uplifting the
voices of the working class and low-income families of this region that
have not been well represented in the Capitol.
Williams was elected to the Santa Barbara City Council in November
2003, then re-elected in November of 2007. He brings experience, new
and fresh ideas, and a to-do attitude that is missing in Sacramento. The
35th Assembly District is solidly Democratic making the real race the
2010 Primary.
PUEBLO Action Fund precinct captains and volunteers will be walking
precincts and phone banking to ensure that Das is the winner of this race.
The organization will also start a process to endorse a candidate for the
District Attorney seat and different state propositions. If you want to
volunteer or participate in our endorsement process contact Grecia Lima at
grecia@sbpueblo.org or call the office at 805-882-2484.
