Das Williams Once Again Significantly Out-Fundraises His Opponent
Reports filed with the Secretary of State show Das Williams with an $137,000 advantage in financial resources
SANTA BARBARA, CA – Just two days after Das Williams’ impressive 66-12 grassroots victory among Democratic Party delegates at the Region 10 Pre-Endorsement Conference in Ventura, campaign reports made public today by the California Secretary of State once again highlighted Das’s staggering advantage in fundraising heading into the June 8th Primary. Today’s numbers complement this year’s earlier report that showed Williams had raised more than any other non-incumbent assembly candidate in the state.
According to the Secretary of State, Das Williams raised over $88,000 for his Assembly campaign between January 1-March 17, and closed with a cash on hand balance of $288,207. Since launching his Assembly campaign last summer, Williams has raised over $419,000. Susan Jordan, Das’s opponent in the Primary, raised $17,713 from January 1-March 17, and ended with a cash on hand balance of $151,503.
As with previous reports, today numbers continued to show that the overwhelming majority of Das Williams’ donors are individuals living within Assembly District 35 boundaries.
"Every day our campaign is growing stronger," said Das Williams. "The residents of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties are hungry for new leadership. I am deeply honored to have their confidence and support."
Today’s announcement adds more momentum to a campaign that has continued to build broad-based support from groups and individuals across the region and state. It proves once again that Das Williams is not only going to have a big grassroots and field advantage over the next 10 weeks, but also that he’s going to have the resources necessary to convey his message of experience and problem-solving to voters in every corner of the district. Das Williams’ extraordinary fundraising efforts underscores vast support of his record and background, as well as the direction in which he wants to move California.
