Everyday I'm amazed at the amount of support this campaign has received. Just last weekend over 70 volunteers knocked on hundreds of doors in their neighborhoods in Ventura, Oxnard and Santa Barbara. They shared our message of bringing new leadership with a proven track record of creating jobs, improving education, balancing budgets, protecting our environment and putting our local priorities first in Sacramento.
Our campaign continues to grow stronger by the day. In the past few weeks we have received endorsements from California National Organization for Women (NOW), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the California League of Conservation Voters, the Santa Barbara and Ventura County Young Democrats and public safety groups such as the Santa Barbara County and City Fire Fighters, the California Highway Patrol and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Firefighters.
In January, we surprised many by not only reporting a strong fundraising total but displaying the grassroots strength of this campaign - over 75% of our contributors are local supporters and community leaders.

Sacramento is broken. We need new leadership, new energy, new solutions and a focus on getting results to get Sacramento back on track. I grew up here locally and have spent my life serving our community - working to build consensus and bringing people together to create good family supporting jobs, strengthen our schools, protect our environment, and fix our budgets.
